Patrick E. Hayeck

Apart from being regarded as a genius for reaching a native-like proficiency in English within only 2 years at the age of 21 without ever attending any formal English learning, Patrick has been an ESL teacher for over 5 years.   He has had extensive experience teaching different classes starting from Beginners to Advanced.  Although he has comprehensively taught English with its four macro-skills, his students have gratefully enjoyed his emphasis on pronunciation through speaking and listening.

Prior to being an ESL teacher, Patrick worked as a trainer/materials writer for a major telecommunication  company  for three years during which he trained customer service representatives how to articulate over the phone and in doing that how to prevent the occurrence of miscommunications affecting the customer’s experience over the phone.

Patrick’s abundant knowledge in phonetics and phonology comes from his background of being a second language learner of English himself, which has left most linguists utterly stupefied for mistaking him as a native speaker of English.  His training experience in the telecommunication industry also helped him  strengthen this knowledge even further as a large number of customers were immigrants with limited English whose pronunciation was quite problematic and thus Patrick was assigned to increase the awareness of his team in the problematic areas of pronunciation of the largest ethnic denominations in Australia such as Chinese, Greek, Italian, Lebanese, Vietnamese, Russian, Brazilian, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Hungarian,  and others.

Patrick holds a Master degree in Communication and Cultural studies and a Master degree in TESOL from Western Sydney University.

He designed the Pronunciation for Employment Purposes Course which he successfully taught at Lloyds International College for over 3 years.

Due to the course's popularity, he was assigned to design and launch the Pronunciation and Fluency courses for both lower and upper proficiency levels for Ability English.  Patrick then created and developed the PRON Method (Pronunciation, Repetition, Oral correction and Neural Networks) taught exclusively at Ability Education.

Patrick is now the Pronunciation Division Coordinator at Ability English and has trained a number of very experienced ESL teachers to use his methodology successfully in the classroom.

In parallel, Patrick's teaching EPSR's pronunciation course "Living English" in the evening and working on the development of a new theory of second language acquisition based upon his own experience as a second language learner whose accomplishment in language learning has proved to be second to none.

The Founder's Statement

"For second language learners of English, the simplest everyday life activities such as watching TV, listening to the radio, riding a bus or train to school, or exchanging a short conversation with a store clerk can be turned to an invaluable learning experience only if the ears are given a clever training that can increase their potential to perceive what is uttered by English native speakers as English rather than gibberish.  Unfortunately, none of the English schools we know of work to decode at least a part of this "noise" or gibberish into a comprehensible set of sounds.  There almost seems to be a serious lack of awareness of what constitutes an English natural speech by most English teachers.  EPSR aims to teach you this skill, that is, how to comprehend what is now for you is just "noise".  EPSR will do that using a new technique that has already proven a great sucess for a large number of learners who had never thought of being able to improve their English the way they did! Please visit our Testimonials and read what other learners said about their learning experience. "

Steven focuses considerable time on opening learners' ears to the rhythms and intonation of English, and has achieved wonderful results with weaning students away from their insistence on relating to English primarily through the written word.
